Hoosier Insurance Company promotes executives
John L. Simmons has been named president of Hoosier Insurance Company, replacing James L. Nahrwold who has retired. Hoosier Insurance company, an Indiana-based property/casualty insurance company with written premium of $58 million, is wholly owned by General Casualty Company of Wisconsin. Hoosier Insurance Company is responsible for General Casualty's operations in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
Simmons' 23-year career in the insurance industry has included marketing, underwriting and management. He joined Hoosier Insurance Company as one of the founders of the start-up company in December 1986.

Vice president--Larry R. Hughes. Hughes has held positions in claims, human resources, training, and marketing. He is the former executive director of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana.

Insurer of CPAs plans expansion into Midwest
CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, which provides professional liability insurance for CPAs in the Western United States, announced its plan to expand its service to accountants in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. The Redwood City, California-based insurer also is expanding into Pennsylvania. Admittance applications are being processed, with policies scheduled to be available in early 1998.
CAMICO originally wrote business in California and began offering insurance and loss prevention services to CPAs in Colorado and Oregon in 1995. The company expanded into Arizona, Idaho, Nevada and Washington in 1996.
Insureds in the Midwestern states will receive access to CAMICO's education and loss prevention programs; use of the toll-free hotline; federal tax, underwriting and claims specialist support; and the company's CPA-accredited seminars, "booster" education sessions and in-firm presentations.
The company insures more than 8,000 CPAs encompassing 2,600 accounting firms and is endorsed by the California Society of CPAs and the Washington Society of CPAs.
