IIAO names officers
Sidney A. (Skip) Huwaldt, CPCU, Huwaldt Insurance, McMinnville, became the 66th president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oregon (IIAO) at the installation of the 1996-97 officers during the closing luncheon of IIAO's 68th annual convention. Huwaldt has been a member of the IIAO Executive Committee for the past two years and is a past recipient of IIAO's Agent of the Year Award.
Joining him as officers are: president-elect--Robert Huggins, CIC, of Huggins Insurance of Coos Bay and first vice president--Dave DeHart, AAI, of Miller Insurance, Tualatin.
Continuing their service on the executive committee are state national director Eva Veazie, Eva Veazie Insurance, Portland; finance chairman Brian Pargeter, CIC, Umpqua Insurance, Roseburg; and immediate past president Andy Whittaker, Campbell Galt & Newlands, Portland.
Young Agents Committee wins national award
IIAO's Young Agents Committee has received the national IIAA Outstanding Young Agent Committee Project Award for 1996, in recognition of the committee's work with producer development and Future Force college recruitment.
Accepting the award at the IIAA Young Agents Convention in Toronto, was 1996-97 YAC Chairperson Amy Hansen, of Waltz Sheridan Crawford in Forest Grove.

IBA West introduces new contractors program
IBA West introduced a new Contractors Program on November 1, 1996, to boost market availability for contractors liability insurance for its member agents.
Administered by Anfield Insurance Services, Inc., the program will be underwritten through an admitted carrier with an A (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best Company, and a financial size rating of VII. It will be available to IBA West members only.
The program's features include:
* 12.5% commission on all classes except residential general contractors engaged in new construction;
* 10% commission on residential general contractors engaged in new construction;
* 25% deposit to bind coverage, with the balance due in 30 days;
* blanket additional insured (primary wording available);
* ISO new occurrence form (CG0001, 10-93 ed.) with a manuscript exclusion for subsidence, condominium and apartment work, and known claims;
* maximum limits of $1 million per occurrence, $1 million products aggregate and $2 million general aggregate; and
* policies include an endorsement warranting subcontractors to carry the same limits and name the insured as an additional insured.
The program offers coverages for general, residential and artisan contractors, as well as coverage for commercial and residential risks.
