For those who want to keep up with several insurance company stocks, this site provides a useful grouping of investment-related financial data. It allows the viewer to check the performance of a large number of insurers and compare results among the insurers.
Insurers are grouped by size, specialty groups and industry sectors. The portion arranging insurers by size enables the viewer to compare the performance, for example, of only those insurers that are "small cap" ($150 million to $500 million in market capitalization). Both property/casualty and life/health insurers are included.
The initial screen for the groupings of insurers provides basic data such as closing price, operating earnings per share, and PE ratio. From there, the viewer can proceed to check more detailed data on companies including ROE, price to book value and returns for recent time periods.
Price-related information is updated daily, and the company financial information is updated quarterly and released within a few days of the 10Q and 10K filings.
The site, which is directed by Ray Dirks, a well-known insurance industry analyst, also includes analysis and commentary on individual companies.
Someone who needs more detailed investment-related information than is available here probably would be best served by visiting the insurers' Web sites directly, or by contacting a stockbroker.
RISK RETENTION REPORTER
http://www.rrr.com
The Risk Retention Reporter, which has operated its Web site since February 1996, recently enhanced it with the opening of a "Business Center" portion of the site. The business center is designed to provide a connection between buyers who do business with risk retention and purchasing group programs and the insurance professionals who serve them.
The business center includes a directory of companies which specialize in products and services for forming and operating RRGs and PGs. It also includes a list of more than 700 current RRGs and PGs, which is updated monthly from the Risk Retention Reporter.
The business center also provides links to captive associations, state insurance departments and other industry sites of use to the RRG and PG community. *
