DELPHI PLANS STAY TRUE TO
THE SEMCI VISION

SEMCI capabilities make multiple entries a thing of the past,
and multiple submissions of business a thing of beauty

After careful consideration and planning, Delphi is proud to announce plans to fulfill our original SEMCI vision to deliver the best possible solutions for streamlined information processing and data upload. Our company recently made a wide-ranging commitment with APT (Alliance for Productive Technology, Inc.) to offer APT's SEMCI Access Module, or SAM, for all Delphi products.

The integration of SAM with Delphi's state-of-the-art insurance company and agency automation systems fulfills a business vision first articulated by our company in 1994. Then as now, it has always been our strategy to deliver true SEMCI (single entry, multi company interface). We refused to rush into anything that might ironically yield duplicate entries of information.

At Delphi, we determined that the key to true SEMCI was to integrate the SAM with an agency management system for faster, more direct and more accurate upload of ACORD forms using the industry standard format (AL3). Without this integration, a customer service representative would be called upon to enter the same information twice--once into the agency management system and, then again, separately, into the APT module.

As of this date, Delphi has fully integrated APT's Agency Module in its Insurnet systems. The availability of integrated technology for most other systems is planned by the end of the fourth quarter of 1998.

Deploying the SAM-enhanced versions of Delphi's legacy systems provides our customers with three "change management" benefits. First, it provides them with the ability to keep ACORD forms up-to-date without expensive and labor-intensive forms maintenance. Next to death and taxes, nothing is more certain than that forms change in our industry. Fortunately, Delphi's SAM-enhanced applications insulate our customers against the costs of these inevitable changes.

Second, SAM-enhanced Delphi systems will deliver an "open" connectivity solution that electronically transfers data between the agency and carrier in the most up-to-date format. By using the APT open standard, customers will be sheltered from the costly and routine time lags associated with changes made to data transfer methods on "closed" proprietary systems.

Third, our SAM-enhanced systems, like all Delphi systems, are Year 2000 compliant. Y2k, as it is sometimes called, hangs over the heads of all information system users, especially in the financial industry. Deploying the latest releases of our solutions can bring you not only the efficiency benefits of APT technology, but also crucial fixes to burgeoning Y2k problems.

These three benefits outlined above are critical in the world of insurance--the industry that best understands that the only certainty in our future is change. In the face of this uncertainty, insurance businesses have always focused on managing change with reliable information and related plans to maximize opportunities while minimizing risks.

Delphi's SAM-enhanced systems simply give you a better, faster and more reliable change-management tool to meet those objectives. That's because true SEMCI capabilities make multiple entries (i.e., multiple exposure to risk) a thing of the past, while making multiple submissions of business a thing of beauty

At Delphi, we think that true SEMCI is a beautiful thing, and we're proud to say that our SAM-enhanced systems will see our customers driving change rather than being subjected to it. In other words, it's perfectly consistent with the thinking behind all of our product development. Now you know.*
