Custard Insurance Adjusters

For more than four decades, Custard Insurance Adjusters’ pursuit of quality and its commitment to excellence at all levels has successfully contributed to its increasing role as a recognized leader in the claim service field. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Custard is one of the largest privately held adjusting companies in the United States with more than 650 employees and 230 offices serving the United States and Puerto Rico, along with service to Canada through its strategic partnership with Canada’s largest independent adjusting firm, Shumka Craig Moore Adjusters Canada, Ltd.

Custard was initially set up to cater to the trucking industry, where it learned the importance of the diverse and unique characteristics of each risk and the need for immediate response and thorough investigations.

According to Rick Linville, director of national sales and marketing and a 23-year veteran of the independent claims adjusting field, Custard was initially set up to cater to the trucking industry. It was because of that experience that the company developed a firm understanding of the importance of the diverse and unique characteristics of each risk and the need for immediate response and thorough investigations.

He says, “We took what we learned and the diligence required from handling large commercial transportation losses and now apply that same process to everything else we do.”

Custard prides itself in being a national multi-line claim facility offering field claim adjusting, third-party administration, and risk management services.

From it earliest days “back home in Indiana,” founder and CEO Rick Custard opened his first office in Fort Wayne with the vision to build a tradition of exceeding customers’ expectations. An early example of what it meant to distinguish his business from other similar businesses can be found in Custard’s history as being one of the first national adjusting firms to offer a 24/7 hotline service. This service continues today as an integral part of the company’s commitment to serve its clients.

But what really distinguishes Custard is the fact that it is the only independent that actually utilizes the English XL Slip Resistance Tester to measure surface safeness. The American Society of Testing Materials has recognized this piece of equipment as the only machine to give accurate results on the slip resistance of walking surfaces of all types. According to Linville, with Custard’s state-of-the-art equipment, anyone with a program for hotels, grocery stores, public entities, or virtually any risk with slip and fall potential can benefit from the service.

Custard has had a strong presence at every major catastrophic event in recent history. Whether it was natural disasters like the hurricanes that pounded the southeastern United States last year or earthquakes, or man-made disasters like environmental losses, Custard has been there to help pick up the pieces to restore the lives of the people affected by these losses.

Linville says that Custard understands that its product is risk expertise and service, but what most often can differentiate a company isn’t only what it gets done but how it gets it done. Said he, “We have the financial advantages of a large corporation, but we respond to our clients with both the passion and the attention to detail of a mom-and-pop business.” *
