Target Markets Program Administrators Association
Program Administrator
Costanza Insurance Agency, Inc.
For more than a decade now, the Costanza Insurance Agency (CIA), a family-owned business headed by founder Peter Costanza and his son Brian Costanza, has been providing insurance for security-related businesses throughout the United States. Among its clients are security guard firms, private investigators, and alarm companies. CIA’s programs include general liability, fidelity/crime insurance, and workers compensation.
A recently created program that CIA offers is Secure Comp, which Peter Costanza describes as an affordable guaranteed cost workers compensation program designed specifically for guards, investigators, and other security services. This wide-ranging new program is available in most states.
“Firms in the security industry have generally been unable to obtain this kind of protection,” says Costanza. “Certainly not at a reasonable cost. We believe that Secure Comp has changed all that. A.M. Best rates our insurer for Secure Comp ‘Excellent.’ Under our commercial crime program we offer fidelity/crime insurance which protects against employee dishonesty, forgery, alteration of outgoing checks, theft, disappearance and destruction of money, and securities and computer fraud.”
Costanza points out that security requirements grow when the rate of crime increases. “The new security need after 9/11,” he says, “created new opportunities for us—new security businesses that suddenly needed to be insured. As a result, CIA continues to perform well and, with offices in Dallas; Glendale, California; and Russellville, Missouri, we are dedicated to fast turn-around service.
In discussing CIA’s relationship with the Target Markets Program Administrators Association, Peter Costanza cites the benefits his agency derives from its membership in the organization. “My connection with Target Markets started in 2003,” he said. “I feel that it’s very important to have access to other niche market specialists. I want to stay in contact with program administrators and underwriters throughout the nation. The insurance marketplace has clearly leveled off in terms of pricing, and we know that carriers’ appetites for niche market business are increasing. At CIA we intend to expand into other program areas, and being a member of Target Markets is most assuredly advantageous.”
