Zurich Programs Business
Ranked among the leaders of insurance programs for more than a half century, Zurich Programs does not plan to simply stand pat in its prominent position.
According to Craig Fundum, president of Zurich Programs, “We actually started with long-haul trucking in 1947. And we have continuously built upon our success. During this past year we created a new cross-functional program to streamline our due-diligence process and get new opportunities up and running more quickly. For our customers, this means that instead of the industry norm of 18 to 24 months of preparation before putting a program into effect, we have the ability to take an existing program opportunity and complete a successful transition in just 70 to 90 days.”
Fundum explains that this cross-functional team is dedicated to creating program opportunities. It focuses on product development and works with underwriters and program administrators on all aspects of administration to help generate speed to market. The team’s full-time job, and ultimate goal, is having customers’ needs met quickly.
Data is also critical to a program’s success. Zurich’s new team, therefore, studies recent trends involving data that affect programs and program administrators. It naturally follows that continuously developing technology plays a key role in this special unit’s efforts.
“Technology is a huge issue for the insurance industry,” says Fundum. “We are working hard to develop on-going—not short-term—successful technology solutions for our programs and program administrators. Electronic data interface capabilities are a major focus of our efforts. All new technology solutions, and our ability to use them effectively and efficiently will be important factors in helping Zurich Programs realize our growth potential and our responsibility to contribute profitably to Zurich North America Commercial’s bottom line.”
Among Zurich’s best-known program business categories are ambulances, law practices, veterinarians, specialty auto, security guards, fitness clubs, medical testing labs, municipalities, and schools. A complete complement of property and casualty, specialty lines, and non-medical and allied health professional liability coverages are also part of the Zurich Programs’ arsenal.
One way that Zurich gets its message delivered to the insurance industry is through its membership in the Target Markets Program Administrators Association. “With the recent creation of our innovative full-time, new-program team, we remind TMPAA members—and all other insurance industry professionals who might be Target Market association prospects—that we can assimilate information rapidly to insure program business smoothly and efficiently. Our strengths are represented by the more than 50 years we’ve dedicated to the program arena, to our expertise in handling program business, and—with our streamlined new-program unit—a determination to continue our zealous commitment to the program marketplace,” Fundum concludes. * |
