Rockwood Programs
Key programs administered: EPLI, E&O for insurance agents and podiatrists
Rockwood Programs began operations in 1996. Since then it has grown into a $40
million insurance agency specializing in management liability products. The
company administers several nationwide programs and is fully licensed in 50
states. It has the authorities and capacities to handle property & casualty (P-C), life, and accident & health (A&H) products on both an admitted and surplus lines basis.
The agency has been involved with the Target Markets Program Administrators
Association (TMPAA) since the TMPAA’s infancy. Rockwood’s president, Glenn Clark, had the idea of an association dedicated to the needs
of program specialists over a decade ago. “We recognized how critical it was for this unique group to have a forum to
address issues that are important to them,” says Clark. “We are justifiably proud of the contributions Rockwood has made to the
association’s success.”
Rockwood serves as the national administrator for several different insurance
agents errors and omissions (E&O) initiatives. “We can provide an E&O answer for virtually any type of insurance agency,” states Darryl McCallin, operations vice president. “We are the administrators of nationwide programs established to write retail
life agents, P-C agents, and managing general agencies. Rockwood also maintains
several brokerage relationships to handle those risks falling outside of our
underwriting authorities.”
Rockwood Programs, Inc., recently made substantial revisions to its life/A&H insurance agent’s E&O offering by embedding general liability coverage to the product. “Embedding meaningful levels of general liability coverage to our existing life
agent’s E&O offering demonstrates our continued commitment to providing leading edge
products for our customers,” notes McCallin. “Our life agents E&O product now provides a separate $100,000 general liability limit. The offering
includes up to $100,000 in personal and advertising injury, $50,000 for damages
to premises rented by the policyholder, and $5,000 in medical expense. This
unique combination of coverages is unavailable anywhere else in the industry.”
Rockwood’s life/accident & health agents E&O and property & casualty agents programs are underwritten through Lloyd’s of London. Policies written through these programs receive up to $25,000 in
identity theft protection at no additional cost. Some restrictions apply.
Rockwood’s MGA program is written through the International Insurance Company of Hannover
Limited (Inter-Hannover). “This program—marketed under the ‘Rockwood Defender’ banner—represents a unique partnership joining a committed insurance carrier,
experienced claims administrator, and program manager,” says Clark. “The carrier has provided a product with a competitive rate structure and one of
the most comprehensive policy forms in the industry. The Rockwood underwriting
team has extensive experience in this business segment. Our claims TPA
[third-party administrator] will provide capable and passionate defense for our
policyholders in the event of a loss. Wilson Elser is also available for
pre-claims consulting and loss mitigation. We feel that introducing our
insureds to their defense team before a claim occurs is a critical component of
our policyholder relationship.”
Rockwood also serves as a premier distributor of employment practices liability
insurance (EPLI). Coverage is offered through Avemco Insurance Company—an “A+” rated affiliate of Houston Casualty Company. Rockwood maintains relationships
with other insurers as well—a flexibility that allows offering a broader array of coverages and policy
terms.
“Rockwood has been involved with EPLI coverage since we first opened our doors,” says Darryl McCallin. “Our team is always working to ensure that the product offering stays relevant in
an ever changing marketplace. We provide a competitive rate structure, online
rating tools, and a variety of marketing aids to help agents sell this valuable
coverage. Policyholders receive access to a fantastic risk mitigation program
that helps our insureds identify and address employment-related issues before
they become claims.”
Serving as the administrator for a nationwide professional liability program for
podiatric physicians, Rockwood offers a competitive policy form as well as a
wide choice of liability limit and retention options. The insureds also receive
identity theft coverage at no additional cost to them.
There are times when Rockwood receives submissions that do not fit into the
eligibility parameters of any program it administers. Rather than declining
these risks outright, they are referred to one of our sister companies,
Rockwood Specialty, a brokerage operation created specifically to assist in the
placement of unique and/or one-off risks.
