PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR
Willis Programs
Specialized program administrator since 1962
The foundation for the current entity was laid nearly 50 years ago in Rochester, New Hampshire. Now, after a successful evolution over the decades, this highly regarded program manager is now known as Willis Programs. Willis is widely recognized as a leading provider of customized insurance products and services meeting the unique needs of a wide array of industries.
Beginning as Kendall Insurance, Willis Programs has been acclaimed for its program expertise since the introduction of the MountainGuard® program in 1962. They now administer more than 30 specialty programs, with $500 million of written premium. The merger of Willis with Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs (HRH) in October 2008, combined the expertise of Willis Programs with that of Smith, Bell & Thompson, Freberg Environmental Insurance, and The Managing Agency Group, and has greatly expanded the scope of programs now offered to agents and brokers.
In addition to its headquarters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the new Willis Programs organization now maintains offices in Burlington, Vermont; Hartford, Connecticut; Tampa, Florida; Detroit, Michigan; Denver, Colorado; and Salt Lake City, Utah, and includes an underwriting, customer service and marketing staff of over 200 professionals.
David G. Hampson, CEO and national partner, is the company’s senior executive. A 35-year insurance industry veteran, he is responsible for providing strategic direction, profit center productivity, and development of best practices for sales, marketing, and underwriting services. In describing the benefits and opportunities the new Willis Programs delivers to agents and brokers, Hampson says, “The combination of Willis and HRH Programs has brought together the best of both worlds in establishing Willis Programs as the leading provider of specialized programs. We remain committed to providing responsive service to our agents and brokers.”
Programs focusing on the resort and health care industries are among Willis Programs’ most active business categories. Comprehensive insurance products for resort risks include enhanced property and general liability coverages, liquor liability, special events, umbrella, and workers compensation, among others. Smith, Bell & Thompson has been an industry leader in the health care field for over 35 years, and is well known for its expertise in writing coverage for home health care, medical staffing, medical equipment, and social service providers. In addition, Willis Programs now offers a national workers compensation program on a monoline basis, and to complement many of its national programs.
